Downhill Beach is around 7 mile long sand beach. It an ideal place for water sports, scenic walks and for family day out. Cars are normally allowed to park on this beach throughout the year. This beach come under Special Area of Conservation (SAC) because of the  flora and fauna and the quality of the sand dunes. The prominent Mussenden Temple is not far from the beach.  Mussenden Temple is the most photographed buildings in Northern Ireland. You get a  breath-taking views of the North Coast from the Mussenden Temple. Downhill Beach is the most scenic strands in Ireland with views to counties Donegal, Antrim and Derry/Londonderry.  The nearest small coastal town Castle rock can offer accommodation, pubs, restaurants, and rail and transport links.

Facilities include:
On-beach free car parking (please take note of tidal and soft sand conditions)
Dogs allowed (restrictions apply 1st June – 15th Sept)
Horse riding (restrictions apply 1st May – 30th Sept, permitted before 11am and after 7pm)
Toilets at beach entrance
